Crystal Cabin Award finalists announced
The finalists for this year’s Crystal Cabin Awards have been announced. The awards recognise outstanding aircraft cabin products and concepts, and will be presented at the Aircraft Interiors Expo (31 March – 2 April) in Hamburg. A panel of international experts has selected three finalists per category from a total of 51 contestants.
Seating innovations are recognised in the passenger comfort category, with Aeras Seat Project’s seating system, Lantal’s Pneumatic Comfort System and Recaro’s CL 3620 seat vying for the prize.
Recaro is also competing – along with Airbus and Teague – in the industrial design/ interior concept category. Recaro’s entry is the SL 3510 economy-class seat, while Airbus’s Customized Engineering Long Range division has developed a Video Control Insert (VCI) for in-flight entertainment (IFE) systems; and Teague is recognised for its redesign of Emirates Airlines’ first-class cabin.
In the greener cabin, health and safety category, AeroCat is nominated for its RFID-equipped airline catering trolley; B&W Engineering for A-LogEqu, its system of galley inserts; and Boeing for its recyclable aircraft carpet.
The materials and components category finalists are B/E Aerospace, Flasin Faser and Iacobucci.
