Royal Air Maroc signs Initium Onboard POS deal
Royal Air Maroc (RAM), via Atlas Catering (Morocco), has agreed a new three-year contract with Initium Onboard to use its Bluebird hand-held POS devices in a bid to facilitate faster and more user-friendly retail transactions onboard.
The carrier previously used onPOS software from Initium Onboard, housed in its own POS devices across its fleet of 44 aircraft. The new Bluebird BIP 1300 equipment, which will now be used for all duty-free sales onboard, comprises industry standard devices with advanced functionality.
"By substituting the old underperforming devices for these high-tech Bluebird machines, RAM will drive down repair costs and will be able to radically improve the retail service they offer onboard," stated Initium Onboard sales and marketing director Dan Hayter. "RAM is taking 62 of the Bluebird devices which they will continue to use with their existing onPOS software."
RAM's project manager Wadi Hajjoubi added, "Initium Onboard was chosen for its proven track record in the marketplace and specifically its onboard retail-focused technology solutions. With six million passengers across more than 80 destinations, RAM required a responsive and flexible solutions provider. We were already working with Initium Onboard for our software and so the decision to additionally use them for hardware works extremely well – particularly as the company has been able to implement its solution quicker and more cost effectively than any other supplier."
