Soft haptic crepe fabric rolled out
FR Safety Yarns together with Prevent Gaenslen & Völter, a specialist in woven fabrics for automotive and transport businesses, have launched a fabric collection of about 120 samples for the aviation sector.
The collection uses various Diolen Safe filament, staple fibre and chenille yarn qualities. A sample fabric of this collection has been used in the upholstery of the Rectiflame Hybrid passenger seat, which premiered at Aircraft Interiors Expo in March. The fabric has been designed for soft haptics and its crepe weave qualities allow comparisons to wool fabrics. The fabrics have a life expectancy similar to leather and are equally durable (up to 45,000 Martindale rubs).
Eric Jegham, sales manager at Prevent stated, “The Prevent group, as one of the leading European suppliers of aircraft seat covers including leather and textile processing, could strengthen its market position as a reliable supplier to the aviation industry. Now we intend to broaden our competence profile to the sector textiles for aviation. With FR Safety Yarns and trademark Diolen Safe we found a competent partner to meet the high industry demands. Talks with purchasing professionals and other interested parties at the fair [Aircraft Interiors Expo] were held at an international level and were very promising. Further steps have been decided on-site with customers. We expect a positive development in this business sector in 2012/2013.”
