SBS Maschinenfabrik is Recaro's supplier of the year
Recaro Aircraft Seating has awarded its best supplier with the “Recaro Supplier Award 2012”. The award was conferred to SBS Maschinenfabrik GmbH of Germany at a ceremony in Recaro's plant in Schwaebisch Hall as part of the Recaro Global Supplier Conference, which focused on delivery performance.
Recaro itself received a 100% on-time delivery rating from Airbus in 2011, and a Gold rating from Boeing, both based on perfect on-time deliveries. “In our business it is crucial that our seats are delivered to aircraft manufacturers on time for installation. In addition to the outstanding quality and comfort characteristics, this is what makes our products a success. In order for us to be able to enhance this high performance level, our suppliers have to pull together with us,” stated Dr Mark Hiller, CEO of Recaro Aircraft Seating. “That’s why we have made ‘on- time delivery’ the main topic of this year’s suppliers’ conference.”
These ratings were made possible by reliable suppliers, which is why they were honoured with the “Recaro Supplier Award”. This year marked the third time the company awarded its suppliers. A Recaro team selected the top three out of a pool of 90 companies. First place went to SBS Maschinenfabrik GmbH, which supplies forged parts and milled components such as seat bases and seat dividers for Recaro economy class seats.
“In addition to delivery reliability, this company really came through with top performances in terms of quality and flexibility,” explained René Dankwerth, former director of sourcing and now vice president of R&D, who organised and presented the supplier conference.
The three best Recaro suppliers also included Karmann Ghia from Portugal, and Silver Creek from the US, which were also honoured with awards.
