Overview:  The Global Product Manager is responsible for identifying, developing and delivering a customer focused world-class product and portfolio strategy for Adient’s Aircraft Seating business, which is part of a global industry that is $4 billion and expected to grow to over US$6 billion by 2025. The Global Product Manager leads the full product and service lifecycle strategy to identify growth and differentiation opportunities for the global aircraft seating business.  Additional responsibilities include leading and executing market, consumer and competitive intelligence activities, product marketing and launch and trade event planning and activation.
Qualified candidates combine both business and technical savvy and an ability to translate the business vision into a compelling product strategy. This role will partner with key cross-functional stakeholders and executives to lead the implementation of product and lifecycle management processes for their responsible product lines.  The Global Product Manager partners with Product Engineering and Commercial Sales teams to develop and deliver a multi-generational product strategy and lifecycle plan.  This role works with marketing communications, commercial sales and customers to activate marketing launch activities, translate product positioning, value propositions and target customer requirements into compelling marketing and sales strategies that deliver winning results for customers and our business. This position plays a pivotal role in achieving the growth objectives for the business.
The position will be located in Kirkland, WA.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
  • Customer and market focus:  Leads voice of the customer and market as well as leads the development of market and competitive intelligence processes culminating in the creation of a global product roadmap.  Creates customer and market segmentation strategies to inform product, customer engagement and experience strategies across the customer and product lifecycle. Engages with customers and OEMs, supporting the Sales teams on RFPs in creating Airline-specific differentiators and addressing product needs for our ways-to-win.
  • Process discipline & performance measurement:  Partner with Product Engineering and Commercial Sales teams to develop and drive delivery of a multi-generational product strategy and product lifecycle plan
  • Portfolio strategy and lifecycle management:  Design, implement and maintain an optimized product offering strategy and assortment (variants) for each market and customer.  Balance market requirements, profitability and cost over the full product lifecycle.  Develop and formalize lifecycle pricing and positioning strategies, go-to-market and commercialization strategies. Identify opportunities to achieve product standardization and complexity management. Identify and implement models to optimize pricing opportunities across the portfolio and product lifecycle.
  • Product marketing & launch strategy:  Partner cross-functionally across marketing, product, and sales teams and be responsible for the execution. Guide marketing communications to consistently implement the marketing deliverables for brand, product & technology launches and achieve business targets.
  • Adjacent market and acquisition targeting:  Identify and propose growth opportunities, globally either by developing products for adjacent markets or identify acquisition targets.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Marketing, Business, or Engineering or another related discipline is required. MBA or equivalent strongly preferred. 
Qualification requirements:
  • 10+ years’ experience with progressive responsibilities and proven results in product management, product development and product marketing.  Experience in B2B marketing and related industries such as automotive and durable goods are an advantage.
  • Critical and systemic thinker able to develop strategies that achieve commercial and business results.   
  • Ability to drive deep understanding of the customer and market requirements to inform product and portfolio strategies and strong customer value propositions.
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong project management skills to manage global, cross functional projects with demonstrated ability to multi-task and set priorities within tight timelines and high expectations
  • Superior written/verbal skills, communications skills. Ability to conceptualize, negotiate and sell ideas internally and externally.
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information ethically and responsibly
  • Excellent communication skills and creativity are critical. 
  • Must be able to collaborate and influence in a global, matrix environment to effectively balance Regional and functional priorities for win-win results.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to travel ~30%, including internationally.
