Recaro puts on a show at its new €50m facility

There is still time to take part in Recaro Aircraft Seating’s ‘hybrid’ seat show, which is running until 17 September. The company expects that around 100 customers will participate at the event, whether in-person at the company’s headquarters in Schwaebisch Hall, Germany, or via the internet, to find out more about the company’s products from its sales teams, product managers and engineers.

Visitors to the HQ are in for an extra treat, as in addition to being able to physically evaluate the company’s range of seating, they will also be able to explore event the newest building on the Recaro campus: the 19,000-square-meter customer service facility. This new facility represents a €50 million investment, and as well as having a dramatic Boeing 707 tailfin at its entrance (gifted to Recaro earlier in 2021), features a customer service production area, crash test and flame lab facilities, and offices for more than 120 Recaro team members.

A variety of seats are being demonstrated at the hybrid seat show, including the brand-new CL3810 long-range economy class seat, the BL3710 economy class seat, and the CL6720 lie-flat business class seat. Regional jet customers can try out the SL3710 and BL3710 economy class seats, which have been adapted for regional, short-range flights. Recaro is also showcasing its flexible seating options, including the BL3530 Sprint, Smart and Swift seats, which can be ordered and installed within six months or less.

“This hybrid seat show is one way we can invest in the industry’s path to recovery. We have used the past 18 months to improve efficiency and continue building our future,” said Mark Hiller, CEO at Recaro Aircraft Seating. “Standing at the threshold of a new age of air travel, Recaro will never stop innovating or engaging. We are a brand in motion.”

Commenting on the new facility, Hiller added, “The new space will be a game-changer, especially the new flame lab and test crash facility. The facility will also serve as a visible icon to the onsite and global team members, who demonstrated unprecedented resilience over these past 18 months. Thanks to their hard work, we can continue driving comfort in the sky.”

The customer service building is part of Recaro’s space2grow expansion plan, which is integrated into its long-term strategy for its five global manufacturing facilities. Recaro established the space2grow initiative in 2018 to invest in new buildings and production spaces
The €50 million facility was designed to a KfW-Effizienzhaus 55-standard and constructed using sustainable materials. From energy-efficient solar shades to district heating integration, the facility was built to improve the end-use of energy and to save resources during operations
The crash test facility is a jewel in the crown at Recaro’s Schwaebisch Hall facility
