Before the doors to Aircraft Interiors Expo have even opened, Unum Aircraft Seating has announced some big news: the first customer for its Unum One business-class seat. Wamos Air, the Spanish wet lease and charter operator (now part of Abra Group), has chosen Unum One seating for its expanding fleet of Airbus A330-200 aircraft (currently 5 A330-200s). Unum says that TSO certification for Unum One is on track for 2025, with the first seat delivery scheduled for the second quarter of 2026.

Enrique Saiz, CEO of Wamos Air, said of the decision: “After extensive evaluation, we selected the Unum One herringbone layout due to its suitability for our operational requirements. Our customers will value the full flat, direct aisle layout, and superior passenger experience, while the seat will offer a reduced cost of ownership due to its lightweight design and ease of maintenance.”

Unum Aircraft Seating has also today announced that TAAG Angola Airlines (TAAG) has selected Unum One for its four Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. The airline will be fitting the seats with Panasonic Avionics IFE systems, with Boeing Global Services handling the cabin integration for the project. The seats are due to be delivered in 2026.

Unum One has an outward-facing herringbone layout with a patented ‘Scimitar’ mechanism, full lie-flat bed, direct aisle access, and a zero-gravity position for relaxing. Options include a privacy door.

Chris Brady, founder and CEO of Unum, added: “We look forward to welcoming Wamos Air into the Unum family. This partnership is proof that our approach to business class seating – reliably comfortable and responsibly made – is working. Two customers on two airframes marks another important milestone for us.”

Unum Aircraft Seating is also in the running for a Crystal Cabin Award this year, for its ‘Ecoprint Refoam’, a material that utilises additive-manufacturing techniques to create a lightweight, recyclable replacement for traditional polyurethane foam stacks in aircraft seating.
