Airbus has signed a BFE agreement with ZIM Flugsitz for economy, premium economy and mechanical business class seats. Under the terms of the deal, signed during the inauguration of ZIM Flugsitz’s new seat manufacturing plant in Schwerin, Germany, the ZIMunique, ZIMflexible, ZIMmagic and ZIMluxury models will be admitted to the Airbus BFE catalog this summer, progressively approved for the A380, A330 and A320 families of aircraft.

Tim Sommer, VP of seats and cabin electronics procurement at Airbus stated, “In 2012 the relationship began with an Airbus VIP seat integration. Five years later, we are glad to announce that ZIM seats will be visible in the Airbus catalog for potential future customer applications on the A320 and A330 families, the A380 and in the future, even for the A350 XWB.”

ZIM Flugsitz began its operations in the retrofit market with highly customized seats, and its entry into the BFE catalog is the logical next step. “To satisfy our customers for their whole aircraft fleet we have to deliver into each kind of aircraft, independent of the size or the age of the aircraft,” stated Angelika Zimmermann, president of ZIM Flugsitz.

The location of the new Schwerin facility close to Hamburg will enable ZIM Flugsitz to support the Airbus assembly line in Germany, as well as to deliver to each chosen assembly location.
