Avianor obtains STC for IFE integration into A330 seats

March 22, 2016 – Avianor has announced that it has received Transport Canada STCs for its modification to the passenger seating on an Airbus A330 for an unnamed operator. These modifications were designed by Avianor to allow easy removal of the previously installed (legacy) IFE system, replacing it with the RAVE IFE system from Zodiac Inflight Innovations (Zii).

As part of a larger project, the economy class seats were re‐branded for the new operator and the design completed to allow installation of the new system. The business class seats were destined for a different project and will be installed during March. In this case, according to Avianor, the client only required minor cosmetic changes.

“As we have extensive stock of the economy and business class seats modified for these projects, we have decided to apply for STC familiarization status with EASA and FAA, thereby allowing us to deliver this solution to our global client base”, said Earl Diamond, CEO of Avianor.

In 2015, Avianor also obtained STC for installation of the RAVE system on four A330s at its Mirabel, Canada facility. For the previous project, the IFE was installed at the seat OEM on new seats, whereas the company has now designed a retrofit kit, offering refurbished seats with new IFE to the market.
