Recaro invests in the future

February 13, 2017 – 2016 saw Recaro Aircraft Seating set a new record across its four production sites, with the delivery of more than 100,000 seats, which reflected an increase in sales for the year of more than 10%. The company has big plans for the future though, with a commitment to sustainability as well as investment in research and development “in the double-digit range” as a percentage of sales revenues.

“New products, new customers and numerous new orders successfully drove business development in 2016. The full order books are ideally matched to the workforce and capacity expansion we have undertaken in recent years,” said Dr Mark Hiller, CEO and Shareholder at Recaro Aircraft Seating.

Dr Hiller has revealed plans for the future, which include ongoing job creation worldwide, product and process innovations, as well as the further expansion of production sites. At the end of 2017, a new 6,000 m² logistics center – a 13.5 million Euro investment – will be opened at the company’s headquarters in Schwaebisch Hall, Germany.

According to Dr Hiller, this center is just the beginning of a significant investment program “in the high double-digit million range”, targeted at meeting high market demand. In 2016, at the company’s most recently opened production site in Qingdao, China, 10,000 seats were produced – twice as many as in the previous year. For 2017, a further doubling to 20,000 seats is planned, which Recaro reports has already been secured through order volumes.
