Eurowings trials food start-ups


Each quarter, Retail inMotion, Eurowings and NX-Food (an innovation hub of the wholesale and food specialist, Metro AG) set out to identify and select a group of innovative new food items on the market, an initiative which gives creative food start-ups a chance to prove themselves with real passengers during a three-month test period. The latest quarterly evaluation has resulted in four products being selected as part of the inflight service on Eurowings flights to compliment winter taste preferences. Over the three months of the trial, each item will be evaluated based on sales figures and customer feedback, with the most successful ones retained in the Eurowings offer.

The team of judges from the three companies chose the following items:

• Wildcorn popcorn made from the best ingredients and available in various flavors. Wildcorn was so popular during the first round of products, that it was brought back for round two.

• There’s no better place for a delicious and nutritious snack pack than on a flight. Bitebox offers mixed nuts and dried fruit for a healthy pick-me-up on board.

• With very little fat and no additives, Berwork sausages are the perfect power food to help you stay fuller longer and get your protein this winter.

• Fruit paper never tasted so good! Increase your vitamin intake with Dörrwerk’s innovative and crunchy new take on fruit.
