Air Canada debuts interactive inflight route map

Air Canada has become launch customer for an interactive route map that enables passengers to explore routes and view flight progress on their seatback displays. Named WhereWeFly, the service, developed by FlightPath3D, provides passengers with a map and searchable directory of all of Air Canada’s routes and destinations. In one click, Air Canada’s hubs are showcased, presenting all routes from its primary global hub in Toronto (YYZ), or from Montreal (YUL) or Vancouver (YVR), the airline’s premier gateway to the Asia-Pacific.

WhereWeFly is being deployed on the airline’s Panasonic seatback IFE systems and Thales Wireless Portal. The system allows for swift browsing of dates and specific flights in a calendar view, with flight times and aircraft details. Passengers can plan their next trip from inside the inflight entertainment map,

“We are excited to be the launch airline for WhereWeFly. It’s a beautifully organised inflight experience where passengers can instantly visualise our routes and flight schedule,” stated Norman Haughton, director of inflight digital entertainment, wi-fi, media sales and analytics for Air Canada.
