Gulf Air opts for Thales Avant IFE on new fleet

July 12, 2016 – Gulf Air has opted to fit Thales IFE systems on its new B787-900s, A320 NEOs and A321 NEOs, totaling 39 aircraft. The aircraft will be equipped with the latest Android-based Avant full high-definition monitors, which according to Thales are “the most lightweight ever deployed”. The business class cabins will also be equipped with the Touch Passenger Media Unit, a handset that can function as a second screen for multi-tasking or multi-viewing.

Maher Salman Al Musallam, Gulf Air’s CEO, said: “We are delighted to introduce an enhanced product and service offering onboard Gulf Air’s newest aircraft – further appealing to passengers across the globe. We are committed to ongoing investment in the Gulf Air offering, to elevate our passenger experience. With Thales’ Avant IFE systems, passengers now have greater entertainment options onboard, ensuring their comfort.”

The first B787-900 and A320 NEO deliveries are scheduled for 2018, with the A321 NEO deliveries starting in 2020.
