Thailand-based low-cost carrier, Vietjet Thailand, is launching an in-flight entertainment (IFE) service in Q3 2025 on its fleet of 18 Airbus narrowbody aircraft (12 A320-200s and 56 A321-200s), with plans to extend the service to its incoming fleet of 50 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft on order.
The airline has decided upon the Blueview digital services platform, delivered via the Bluebox Wow system. The decision to offer IFE comes as the airline is expanding its fleet and preparing to operate longer-haul Asia-Pacific routes.
The Blueview software platform provides a portal through which passengers can view and access a range of in-flight digital services, such as movies, TV shows, music, and onboard retail, via their own personal electronic devices such as smartphones or tablets.
The Blueview system can provide secure payment processing, connect with crew and passenger applications already on the aircraft, and deliver analytics to the airline. It is a digital eco-system offering airlines the ability to engage and entertain their passengers on board and earn ancillary revenue for the airline in the process.
Vietjet Thailand has also chosen Bright Sky Media, a regional advertising specialist, to create more revenue opportunities from the IFE service.
“We are always looking for innovative ways to delight our customers and add value while retaining our low-cost service. Adding this superb capability from Bluebox across our fleet will ensure every customer experiences even more benefits of travelling with Vietjet Thailand,” said Pinyot Pibulsonggram, VP of commercial and customer service at Vietjet Thailand.
