Cabin branding specialist, ABC International has collaborated with Irish flag carrier, Aer Lingus to engineer and manufacture an Irish shamrock-themed panel to be installed on the airline’s A330s and A321neos. The shamrock motif, an iconic symbol of Ireland,  has been restyled as part of a design modernisation project that Aer Lingus undertook at the beginning of 2019 as part of its development strategy.

ABC International fruitful collaboration with Aer Lingus has been developed, firstly, on A330s branding project at the aim to refresh the interiors on long-haul routes. The successful outcome of the A330 project brought Aer Lingus to the decision to extend the branding to the A321neo fleet with a different sized shamrock designed and manufactured by ABC International.

The design guidelines for the shamrock were defined by the Factorydesign studio in London, and ABC International translated the new brand image into an airworthy product compliant with the aviation regulations and ready to be installed on board.

The CNC-machined aluminium branding logo is surface-treated with a sand-blasted effect, divided in three different parts with each leaf installed to achieve the correct final look of the shamrock. To date, the new branding panels have been installed on 14 of the airline’s A330s and eight A321neos, and in total approximately 30 branding elements have been manufactured and delivered.

On the retrofitted A330s, ABC International has also been in charge of engineering and certification activities to approve, under its DOA privileges, logo installation on board, while for the A321neo linefits the installation has been coordinated with Airbus.
