ABC International develops cabin branding elements for LATAM Dreamliners

ABC International, an Italy-based aircraft cabin engineering company, has revealed its latest project: designing and manufacturing the branding elements for the Premium Business and Economy class cabins of LATAM Airlines Group’s Boeing 787-8 and Boeing 787-9 aircraft.

Following a previous project in 2016, when ABC International created welcome panels for LATAM’s B787 cabins, using a design by the PriestmanGoode consultancy, the company has again been chosen, to supply 28 new branding panels featuring the airline’s logo.

The company was briefed to develop and certify two types of crests, both made of metal. The panels in Premium Business have a unique effect to the metal finish, while in Economy the distinctive indigo and coral colours of the LATAM brand have been applied. Images of the panels are not available yet.

The installation of the branding elements on the LATAM aircraft is the result of a collaboration between ABC International and Boeing Global Services (BGS). ABC’s engineers provided the technical drawings and specifications necessary for the cabin branding installation, for final certification by BGS.

Olindo Spatola, vice president of engineering and HDO at ABC International, stated: “When we started working on the design, our proposals were finalised to ease the installation and the airworthiness of both logos. Our main focus was to create branding elements suitable for onboard installation, despite the reduced size of some components, while preserving the characteristic three-dimensional wavey effect of the LATAM brand.”

ABC International is also engaged in a new cabin branding project for LATAM involving a Boeing 767 aircraft. This initiative, which includes updates to the Premium Business and Economy class cabins, is part of a broader cabin modification programme under development.

Rodolfo Baldascino, CEO of ABC International added, “Cabin branding requirements have become increasingly complex in recent years. Thanks to the synergy with other companies and sophisticated supply chain management, ABC International can deal with this complexity to create high-quality products suitable for flight.”

In other recent LATAM design news, following a global tender process, NewTerritory has been appointed as its brand experience and design partner, to create a design philosophy and define product design guidelines for every customer touchpoint, from airport to onboard.
