In a deal negotiated with DAZN, the over-the-top sports streaming and entertainment platform, IMG, a sports marketing agency, has secured the rights to broadcast the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 to the inflight and cruise markets. The sub-licence agreement grants IMG the rights to broadcast more than 55 live football matches (soccer in some markets) and more than 115 hours of coverage from the tournament on the Sport 24 channels globally.
The broadcast rights are great news for sports-loving passengers. The newly expanded format for the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 will feature 32 teams, with games hosted across 12 venues in the United States. The tournament has confirmed some of the world’s biggest teams will compete in the tournament, including Chelsea FC, Manchester City, Real Madrid CF, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, FC Bayern Munich, Flamengo, Inter Miami and Al Hilal. The FIFA Club World Cup will be broadcast globally and for free across DAZN.com.
The addition of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 follows what Sport 24 hails the “huge success” of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023 broadcasts. The Qatar event alone saw 172 live hours of games broadcast on Sport 24 and Sport 24 Extra, with more than 1.4 million passengers tuning in to watch inflight.
These events are the latest addition to Sport 24’s live football coverage offering, which includes the FIFA World Cup 26 (another recent deal), the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 (just announced), Premier League, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, UEFA Nations League, and the AFC Asian Cup.
It’s not just about football though, as Sport 24’s schedule of live sport this summer also include the Wimbledon Championships (tennis), The Open (golf), and Formula 1 (motor racing).
Richard Wise, SVP for content and channels at IMG said: “Sport 24 is all about a global offering for global passengers, and the FIFA Club World Cup is bringing together the biggest and most successful clubs in world football, on a global stage for the first time. We’re delighted to partner with DAZN to make extensive live coverage of the tournament available to our international airlines and cruise lines partners, so that passengers never have to miss a moment of the action.”
The Sport 24 live sports channel can be viewed on multiple carriers, including Etihad Airways, Emirates, Turkish Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Carnival Group, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Norwegian Cruise Line and Fred Olsen.
