Wirelessly connected tray table ready for launch

March 23, 2017 – The Aeroplastics division of AeroFoam Industries has revealed details of a high-tech seatback tray table design that it intends to launch at Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg this April. Named PowerTray, the design integrates intelligent and cable-less inflight USB-C electronics to create what the company claims is ‘the first wirelessly connected table’.

To aid practicality and durability, the USB-C connector is splashproof and minimizes trapped food, but in the event of a problem, the quick-change system means the entire unit can be quickly changed out to minimize downtime. According to the company, the intelligent power unit “handshakes” with smart devices to ensure the correct power is efficiently distributed to the accessory, and the PowerTray is compatible with most major power distribution systems.
