Airbus has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Thai Airways International (THAI) to retrofit the airline’s A350-900 fleet with cabin upgrades. The retrofit programme, when finalised, will be overseen by Airbus.

The programme will involve THAI’s fleet of A350-900 aircraft be equipped with the latest cabin innovations to enhance the travel experience on long-haul routes. The upgrades will include modernised and upgraded seats in Royal Silk business Class, new premium economy class seats and economy class seats, as well as an improved in-flight entertainment (IFE) system. The cabin modernisation work is expected to start from 2028, with the retrofitted aircraft expected to re-enter service in phases to minimise disruption to THAI’s flight operations.

Balinda Zhang, Airbus Head of Commercial Services APAC, said: “Airbus is pleased to support THAI in this significant investment in their fleet, ensuring that their A350 aircraft continue to offer passengers an exceptional flying experience.”

The LoI was signed at Aircraft Interiors Expo. From left to right: Joost van der Heijden, senior vice president of marketing, Airbus; Khun Piyasvasti Amranand, chairman and plan administrator, THAI; Khun Chai Eamsiri, chief executive officer, THAI
