A new onboard retail system has been launched, designed to offset the cost of inflight connectivity by enabling airlines to add a digital shopping platform to their wi-fi systems, with no need for stock to be held onboard stock or crew to be involved in the process.
InterLnkd, the developer of the AirMall ‘white label’ platform, says it can be plugged into any airline’s captive portal, enabling passengers to browse a personalised selection of fashion, beauty and other products via their own devices, with purchases delivered directly to their home or travel destination, as preferred. The vendor-agnostic platform can support inflight payments and integrate with airline loyalty programmes.
The system can also use InterLnkd’s proprietary MotiVatedData matching engine, an intelligent matching engine that can curate a relevant selection of products from more than 20,000 global brands, based on the passenger’s profile and destination,
Barry Klipp, CEO of InterLnkd, the developer of AirMall, said: “Free, fast wi-fi is becoming an expectation, leaving airlines to fund an expensive connectivity stack without charging for access. That’s why we built AirMall: a simple, plug-and-play solution that lets carriers engage and monetise their onboard wi-fi users. It is the first inflight retail solution to break free from the constraints of pre-loaded airline catalogues and airport delivery, giving passengers the same convenience and choice they expect on the ground.”
