June 26, 2015 – LSG Sky Chefs has opened a customer service facility in Auckland, New Zealand, to help meet the needs of Air New Zealand, LSG’s hub customer at this location and partner since 1997.

The 11,600 square-meter building has a 2,500 square-meter production area where around 550 employees produce 17,000 meals and  7,000 fresh-food products per day for airline customers including Air New Zealand, Emirates, Korean Air, LAN Airlines, Qantas, Singapore, Air Calin and Virgin Australia, as well as a number of retail outlets.

Technology in the unit includes low-temperature dishwashers, temperature-controlled food-processing areas, LED-lighting installations and organic-waste recycling. According to LSG, energy consumption has also been  reduced compared to the old unit, which is currently being demolished and the land given back to Air New Zealand.
