LSG Sky Chefs has opened a new airline catering facility at Tocumen International Airport in Panama. This 6,400 square meter facility (double the size of the previous one) was built in parallel with the airport’s expansion, which was started in response to the significant passenger growth in this Central American nation. A further investment in equipment helps ensure upgraded processes and production flows. Currently, 515 employees produce 27,000 meals per day at the site for an average of 200 flights.

From Panama, LSG Sky Chefs serves hub carrier Copa Airlines, as well as a severalinternational carriers, including Air France, American Airlines, AviancaTaca, Delta, Iberia, KLM and United.

“This facility was built with the future in mind, a future of growth not only for LSG Sky Chefs, but for the Tocumen International Airport and Panama itself,” said CEO Walter Gehl at the official opening ceremony. “The economic growth and many resulting developments are all strong signs that this country is redefining itself as a regional powerhouse.”
