Sabre acquires airline retailing software company, Radixx

Travel technology provider, Sabre Corporation has acquired Radixx, an airline retailing software provider specialising in the low-cost carrier (LCC) sector, for approximately US$110 million. Sabre’s motivation for the acquisition is to expand its retailing, distribution and fulfillment capabilities to serve the rapidly expanding LCC market – a market which has grown twice as fast as full-service carriers over the past five years and now totals nearly 30% of global passengers boarded annually, according to a report by T2RL.

The key Radixx products for this aim are an LCC passenger service system (PSS) and internet booking engine (IBE). As a combined portfolio, Sabre and Radixx will offer solutions for all segments of the market, from LCCs to network carriers.

Radixx technology and partnership models are designed to deliver omni-channel merchandising capabilities built into the passenger system, that can enable airlines to maximise their ancillary revenues by offering the streamlined sale of value-added services throughout all distribution channels.

Sabre plans to operate Radixx as a standalone subsidiary through its Airline Solutions business.
