Burrana, a manufacturer of In-flight entertainment (IFE) and cabin technologies, has delivered the first RISE Power in-seat power system to launch customer China Southern Airlines, as part of its Airbus A320 family linefit programme.
China Southern Airlines has received the first aircraft delivery from Airbus with the RISE Power system, and the linefit programme will see the systems installed across at least 37 aircraft, with deliveries scheduled from 2025 to 2028. RISE Power is available in the Airbus A320 family BFE Catalogue as a selectable in-seat power supply (ISPS) option.
RISE Power will be integrated into the Jiatai JT220 series economy-class seats on the A320s. According to Burrana the seat box is comparable in size to a smartphone, so it does not intrude into passenger legroom space, and weighs around 200g per seat. The system delivers USB-C 60W power via the in-seat outlets for the rapid charging of personal electronic devices (PEDs), such as phones, tablet and laptops.
The RISE Power advanced in-seat power supply system was runner-up in the Cabin Systems category of the 2024 Crystal Cabin Awards.
