Simple but clever: the composite hinge

April 27, 2017 – An all-composite hinge has been developed by Talon Technology in Sydney, which the company says offers size and weight advantages over conventional metal hinges, as well as offering resistance to corrosion. The thinnest hinge designs can be prepared for application by bonding without screws, as the carbon fiber offers excellent adhesion properties.

Geoff Germon, CEO of Talon stated, “If you look at our 50mm hinge, it is only 1.6mm thick when closed, it weighs less than a plastic credit card and yet can hold over 150kg.”
