easyJet orders Recaro SL3510 for retrofit and line-fit

October 9, 2015 – Following positive feedback from its use of the Recaro SL3510 seat since 2013, easyJet has decided that it will now retrofit 56 A320s in its current fleet with more than 10,000 of the seats. In bigger news, the airline has also decided to appoint Recaro as its line-fit seating supplier and has placed an order for 20,000 seats for its 100 A320neo aircraft – with an option to equip an additional 100 new aircraft with another 20,000 seats. These new seat orders will have a few new features, including a tablet PC holder.

COO of easyJet, Warwick Brady, said, “The SL3510 won us over with its combination of increased space, lightweight design and reduced number of components.”

According to Recaro, the SL3510 weighs 9kg per pax place, a weight saving that will make every retrofitted easyJet aircraft 600kg lighter than before. It is not just about weight though, as Recaro focused on the seat’s ergonomic qualities. The backrest angle is pre-defined for a relaxed sitting position, and the netting in the aluminum frame conforms to the shape of the passenger’s spine.
