Recaro Aircraft Seating has announced a linefit collaboration with Thai Airways for 32 shipsets of the long-range R3 economy-class seat. Delivery of the first shipset of seats is scheduled for Q4 2025, for installation on the airline’s Airbus A321neo fleet.
The airline has opted for a unique trim and finish scheme for the R3 seats, including customised dress covers in the airline brand’s familiar vibrant purple colour, with an intricate stitching pattern inspired by elements of the THAI logo that creates a subtle tufting effect on the backrest. The beige, six-way adjustable headrests will features the debossed signature THAI logo. Production of the seats is currently underway at Recaro’s facility in Poland, where the in-house, cut-to-dress team are creating the bespoke backrest stitching.
The R3 seats will also include a tray table with device stand, a cup holder, a literature pocket, an additional amenity pocket, and a steward step and baggage bar to facilitate access to the overhead bins.
“The incorporation of the R3 sets a robust foundation for enhancing the passenger experience, and elevating Thai Airways’ fleet to the next-level as Thai Airways ushers in an exciting new chapter marking its 65th anniversary,” said Mark Hiller, CEO of Recaro Aircraft Seating and Recaro Holding. “This partnership with Thai Airways, culminating in the award-winning R3, marks a proud moment for our teams. Congratulations on reaching this outstanding milestone.”
