Singapore Airlines’ A380 suites to feature TRB panels

TRB Lightweight Structures (TRB) has been announced as a partner on the ‘Skyroom suites’ found on board five of Singapore Airlines’ new Airbus A380s. The airline commissioned aircraft interiors giant, Safran to design and manufacture the luxury first class suites as part of its 70th birthday celebrations, and in turn Safran has included more than 100 different phenolic panels manufactured by TRB in the design.

The design of each suite was dependent on its position within the aircraft, which required the production of more than 100 different types of complex, press-cured phenolic panels in a short timescale. Every panel also needed to be supplied with a cure graph, and had to undergo rigorous quality assurance checks to ensure a high standard of finish. Safran assigned a programme manager to work on site alongside the TRB team, and this joint effort ensured the project met all specifications and was delivered on time.

Following the success of this project, TRB has also been chosen to manufacture more than 100 doors as part of an ongoing scheme to fit Skyroom suites to the rest of the Singapore Airlines A380 fleet.
