Onboard revenues could be boosted by Airtime Market

As a new part of its Airtime Portal IFE platform, Anuvu has launched Airtime Market, an option that enables passengers to order and pay for food and beverage items onboard aircraft, directly from their personal devices.

Anuvu says that Airtime Market can help solve some of the challenges the aviation industry is facing in relation to manual inflight food and beverage services, such as unnecessary costs, uncertain inventory levels and potential transaction fraud.

“When it comes to inflight food and beverage service, airlines have been relying on outdated and manual processes for far too long,” said Mike Pigott, EVP of connectivity at Anuvu. “Recent technological advancements have afforded us the opportunity to simplify the online purchasing process for consumers and businesses alike, aviation industry included.”

Features of Airtime Market include contactless ordering and payment (no printed menus required), dietary navigation and filtering, real-time order tracking, auto-generated electronic receipts, and digital coupons. With passengers taking the initiative, flight attendants can spend less time on cabin service in the aisle, freeing-up time for other tasks and reducing their person-to-person exposure.
