Honeywell completes JetWave connectivity tests in China

Honeywell has completed the ground and flight testing programme required to offer its JetWave connectivity system in China. The tests were conducted on the company’s Boeing 757 testbed aircraft, and represent a milestone for Honeywell’s introduction of high-speed satellite communications for inflight connectivity in the China market. In March 2019, Honeywell announced the appointment of Air Esurfing as the sole distributor of JetWave in China.

The JetWave system has been designed to provide reliable and high-speed cabin connectivity across China’s Ka-band satellite network, with speeds of up to 180Mbps. JetWave’s satellite communications terminals provide a Ka-band service that is available worldwide, with the hardware and network optimised to work during flight.

In addition to the passenger experience benefits of inflight wi-fi, JetWave also brings greater connectivity to assist maintenance operators and flight operations better manage aircraft, reduce fuel costs, and help avoid aircraft delays.
