HNA Group has selected Thales to supply its Avant IFE systems for its fleet of 42 A330s and 17 A350 XWBs. HNA group manages several subsidiary airlines, including Hainan airlines, Capital Airlines, Tianjin Airlines, Lucky Air and West Air, which already have a combined fleet of over 50 A330 aircraft flying with Thales IFE systems. HNA’s first A330 equipped with Avant IFE entered into service in late 2017 and the first AVANT A350 aircraft to be fitted with the system is expected to enter into service in the third quarter of 2018.
HNA’s deal for the Android-based Avant IFE systems includes lightweight and high-definition monitors, the ‘Avii Touch’ handheld passenger media unit which can serve as a second entertainment screen, and integration with Ka-band connectivity.
