Sending SOFIA back to the skies


After four months of intensive maintenance, Lufthansa Technik in Hamburg is sad to return SOFIA back to service. SOFIA, the Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy, has been redelivered on-time to NASA and DLR, and she has a fascinating aircraft interior.

Join Sven Hatje on a tour of this one-of-a-kind aircraft. As the technical project manager for the Extended Maintenance Visit (EMV), he explains the various highlights that his team has worked on over the months, and the important technical milestones.
