Panasonic Avionics Corporation (Panasonic) has announced that it intends to set new Innovation Studios at five key locations around the world. The aim is to create “broader consultative engagements” with customers, with the studios serving as hubs where Panasonic staff and its customers can work together for innovation and ideation, and work on prototypes, and evaluate product and digital concepts, including user experience.
Each studio will be located close to a major destination, a leading university or a center with an innovation and start-up culture – or a combination – with the first set to open in Silicon Valley by the end of 2018.
The Studios will also serve as locations for airline workshops conducted by Tactel, Panasonic’s digital design consultancy. Tactel was acquired by Panasonic in 2015, with the company saying the consultancy has played “an instrumental role” in helping customers get maximum value from their IFEC investments.
David Bartlett, CTO of Panasonic Avionics Corporation, stated: “Our new Innovation Studios will leverage our cloud-based infrastructure to foster an ethos of collaboration, strengthening our partner eco-system and with it, the range of value-added services we can offer our airline customers.”
