Airbus and Recaro extending SFE contract for A320 seats

Recaro Aircraft Seating has been the exclusive supplier of a ‘supplier-furnished-equipment’ (SFE) seat since 2016, with its 3530Swift economy class seat for the Airbus A320 family. Since then Airbus has sold over 20,000 seats of this catalog product. Building on the relationship, Recaro has announced that it will be supplementing its SFE product portfolio for the Airbus A320 family with two additional next generation seat types: the 3710Swift economy class model and the 4710Swift business class model.

With this addition Recaro will be able to deliver a dual-class SFE seat solution (business and economy class) for the A320 family. Having different SFE seating options available for both line-fit and retrofit of the A320 can be especially beneficial for start-up and low-cost airlines as well as aircraft lessors, as it offers them a family of products to choose from, with short market lead-times and the latest generation of products. The SFE seats are predefined, pre-qualified and pre-certified for Airbus layouts and catalog configurations, which saves the time normally required for individual product approval.

Dr Mark Hiller, CEO of Recaro Aircraft Seating said of the renewed agreement, “We are absolutely thrilled with Airbus’s continued trust in Recaro. The extension and enlargement of the contract confirms our vision to drive comfort in the sky through a combination of consistent performance in terms of process stability, product quality and reliable delivery.”
