Recaro Aircraft Seating has been awarded the ‘iF Design Award 2015’ in recognition of the design of its CL3710 long-haul economy seat, as used by airlines including KLM. The annual awards scheme began more than 60 years ago, and has since become an internationally recognised design prize. This year 4,783 entries were received from 2,102 participants from 53 countries.

The Recaro CL3710 convinced the international panel of experts in the ‘Automobiles/Vehicles/Bikes’ product category with its combination of ergonomic comfort, space savings, and light weight (less than 12kg). According to Recaro, its entire expertise in ergonomics was incorporated into the CL3710, with 18 patent applications filed during the product’s development.

The official award ceremony will take place at BMW World in Munich on February 27, 2015. From June 18 to September 20, 2015, the long-haul seat will also be featured in the “iF Design Exhibition” in Hamburg.
