Japanese domestic carrier, Skymark Airlines, is equipping three Boeing 737-800 aircraft with Recaro’s BL3530 short-haul seats. Each aircraft will be fitted with 177 seats, for a total of 531 seats, the first shipset of which will be begin flying during August.

The BL3530 weighs just over 10kg, including features such as a high literature pocket, a tablet PC holder, USB power supply, and multiple stowage options for small personal items.

That low weight helps reduce fuel costs, and Dr Mark Hiller, CEO of Recaro Aircraft Seating is keen to emphasize further economic benefits: “The BL3530 incorporates contemporary style elements as well as places an emphasis on simplified maintenance and minimized life cycle costs. Not only do the seats provide more space for passengers, they will fly longer and Skymark will save money in the long-term.”

Tokyo-based Skymark Airlines has a fleet of 27B737-800 aircraft, the majority of which are equipped with Recaro seats.
