LSG extends onboard F&B concept with Germanwings

LSG Sky Chefs has extended its partnership with Germanwings for another two years, with a contract for food production services at five locations and catering deliveries at seven airports in Germany.

Germanwings unveiled a new onboard concept alongside its new positioning in 2013, with its meal and beverage offering reflecting different ticket categories. Passengers in ‘Best’ can select à la carte from an extensive menu. Those with a ‘Smart’ ticket receive a snack and a beverage included in the ticket price. Guests flying with a ‘Basic’ ticket can buy meals, beverages and snacks in line with a classic buy-on-board concept.

“We are very pleased that we have been able to extend our partnership with LSG Sky Chefs,” said Katrin Flöther, Germanwings’ director of ancillary revenue & product. “Together, we developed and introduced this new industry-leading catering hybrid model within the last year. Further optimizations are currently being made by both sides.”

“We record KPIs regarding sales data and waste at every location so that we can adjust and steer our production and loading according to the demands of the passengers,” added José Lirio Silva, LSG Sky Chefs’ director of retail management for Germany. “We will continue to evolve this concept so that we can customize it even more, in close cooperation with Germanwings.”
