328, a Germany-based refurbishment, completions and maintenance aviation company, has won a contract to manufacture an Airbus A340-600 rear galley complex for Jet Aviation Basel in Switzerland. The complex will be manufactured at 328’s headquarters in Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany with installation to take place at Jet Aviation in Basel. The project work, which began in early March, is due for completion in summer 2014 for delivery to an undisclosed VVIP private customer.

According to 328, it will construct the entire U-shaped rear galley structure (which comprises two sides and a bulkhead) from raw materials including assembly and mounting attachments to a “high-end customised specification”. Based on the OEM footprint, the complex will feature high strength, lightweight materials, and the electrical system and water services will be assembled and installed by 328. The galley will feature Corian worktops, and each side of the galley will come equipped with a number of appliances to include steam ovens, microwave, refrigerators, ice draws and coffee machines.
