ITA Airways, Italy’s new flag carrier, has begun a major aircraft interiors upgrade programme across its fleet, comprising Airbus A220, A319ceo, A320neo/ceo, A321neo and A330neo jets. The airline is working with Safran for the whole programme, including seating, galleys. IFE and more.

Safran Seats will provide all the economy and premium economy class seats for these aircraft, with Italian fabrics and leathers chosen to give a premium and distinctly Italian feel.

Safran Cabin is another major player in the programme, supplying cargo bay rest areas for flight crews, galleys, galley inserts and food and beverage carts to ensure that inflight service is at its best.

And another division of Safran, Safran Passenger Innovations, will supply in-flight entertainment and connectivity (IFEC) systems to ITA Airways. The company’s RAVE wireless system will be fitted to 12 A320neos, and the RAVE Centric system to nine A321neo and 17 A330neo aircraft.

“Our aircraft interior staff have developed an integrated cabin and seat solution, reflecting the excellence of this new airline,” said Olivier Andriès, CEO of Safran.
