Air China pax can enjoy inflight conferences

Passengers onboard Air China’s Boeing 777s can now watch the Xinhua News Agency’s inflight newscast, a service enabled by the airline’s partnership with Global Eagle Entertainment (GEE) and its Ku-band connectivity system.

The service will see the Xinhua News Agency broadcast live television between the National People Congress / Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conferences (NPC/CPPCC) and Air China’s connectivity-equipped B777s. Passengers who aren’t so interested in the conference can also use the connectivity system to browse the internet, chat, shop, stream movies and watch TV shows.

“This is an historic event for both Air China and inflight connectivity in the region,” commented Walé Adepoju, CCO of GEE. “We’re thrilled to have supported China’s national carrier and China’s national news agency with our broadband connectivity system to enable the live broadcast of the NPC/CPPCC Conferences.”
