IdeaNova launches Inplay Captive Portal IFE feature

IdeaNova Technologies has launched Inplay Captive Portal (ICP), a new feature for its Inplay IFE platform that allows passengers to launch services at the click of a button on a Windows, Mac OS, Android or iOS device.

ICP was first revealed at Apex Expo 2021, with a modular design that means airlines and IFE vendors can introduce it as a component to their existing IFE platforms. ICP is fully customisable and enables airlines to insert messaging, direct users to a desired location, and increases passenger engagement with the portal. The system also supports manual access of IFE portal for legacy systems. According to IdeaNova the system will lead to more passengers viewing IFE content, purchasing merchandise, and watching adverts.

“Development of captive portals has been historically difficult for autonomous systems that are still prevalent in the aviation industry, due to lack of internet connectivity. This and the meticulous attention to various versions of an operating system is what makes ICP stand out,” said IdeaNova CTO, Janne Pelkonen.
