Swiss fitting Bruce LED system to Airbus fleet

0

Beginning in September 2014, Swiss International Airlines is retrofitting Bruce Aerospace’s XLume LED lighting system on its fleet of A320/A321, A330 and A340 aircraft. The XLume product line offers airlines a drop-in replacement for the OEM-supplied fluorescent cabin lighting fixtures.

Certification will be achieved by STC, which covers the fitment of new sidewall and ceiling lights for the A320 & A321 fleet. For the A330/A340s, Bruce will supply a fully programmable mood lighting system.

The installation of the “plug & play” LED fixtures is accomplished using the existing wiring and controls. According to Bruce, with an LED life of over 60,000 hours, Swiss will save costs on labour and materials for lamp replacement, as well as enjoying savings through lower power consumption and not having to dispose of ‘hazardous lamps’.
