Sekisui SPI completes interiors thermoplastics range

June 8, 2015 – Sekisui SPI has a new addition to its thermoplastics product portfolio: Kydex 4545, an ultra-low heat release product that exceeds the heat release and smoke density requirements in FAR 25.853. According to the company, this addition makes it the only thermoplastic sheet manufacturer to offer a complete aviation interiors product line, from flight deck to economy class. Applications of Kydex 4545 include passenger-facing seat components, bulkhead laminates, passenger service units, and other cabin interior parts.

Lydia Swan, VP of sales and marketing at Sekisui SPI stated, “The daunting number of sizes and quantity of components used in aircraft interior cabins make achieving a multi-faceted, layered design a significant challenge. When materials are from different sources, realizing consistent colour, texture, and gloss is extremely difficult.”

By offering materials from a single source, the company says it offers a solution to such problems. Kydex 4545 is suitable for composite constructions and is available in a wide range of custom colors and a velour matte texture.
