Kuehne + Nagel has been awarded a three-year logistics contract for handling the refurbishment of 14 of Singapore Airlines’ Airbus A380s. Under the terms of the agreement, Kuehne + Nagel will provide the airline with end-to-end digital support and manage the materials from pick up at suppliers via all modes of transport into a Singapore-certified aerospace logistics hub where the materials will be received, quality inspected, kitted and handed over to hangar maintenance on time and in sequence.

Key to the contract will be the certified systems, processes and experts associated with Kuehne + Nagel’s ‘KN InteriorChain’ program, which is designed to allow organizations to concentrate on ensuring high standards of interior installation and refurbishment while Kuehne + Nagel focuses on delivery of parts on schedule, whether at production line or MRO hangar.

“This A380 refurbishment project is one of the most prestigious aircraft refurbishment projects in the aerospace industry due to its huge scale and technical complexity, and we are excited about this partnership with Singapore Airlines,” said Erik Goedhart, SVP of aerospace at Kuehne + Nagel. “Our KN InteriorChain solution will be the backbone for the A380 fleet refurbishments. KN InteriorChain is seen as an innovative solution to the logistical requirements of an organization’s refurbishment project. We developed and launched it as an end-to-end digital logistics solution covering the entire lifecycle of aircraft interiors.”
