For boarding and disembarkation, the lighting effects are intended to recreate the immense sky above a land of more than 7,000 islands. A soft gradient of light, ranging from pale amber to a soft blue travels slowly from the rear of the cabin to the front, in a loop. The LIFT team says this effect communicates a uniquely PAL “mabuhay” (welcome in Filipino)

Special lighting schemes can be introduced for boarding and disembarkation during holiday periods
-
At Christmas for example, this particularly festive scheme can be selected. All that’s missing is a tree
-
Annual festivals are held in towns and cities throughout the Philippines, and they are an explosion of color. The LED lighting helps give PAL the ability to create a festival atmosphere on board
-
Again in festival mode, ‘flags’ adorn the cabin ceiling. The flags appear diffused when looking down the aisle, and defined when viewing them from the side
-
In celebration mode, a unique and dynamic light show can be selected to mark a special occasion, such as a birthday, anniversary or even a surprise marriage proposal on board
-
The whole cabin can become a flag for National Day
-
After meal service, a stylish but calm scheme helps passengers relax
-
Prior to the final meal service, a slow transition from midnight blue culminates with a slowly rising sun. As it fades out, the cabin sidewalls become bathed in warm amber
