Royal Jordanian Airlines has taken delivery of its first B787-8, which is equipped with the Thales AVANT system – the first time this system has featured on this aircraft type.

Passengers will enjoy 17in IFE displays in Crown (business class, pictured left) and 10.6in touchscreens in economy (pictured below). The system debuts several new features, including 3D map applications, picture-in-picture viewing for dual viewing of the map and video playback, and 3D audio for enhanced high-fidelity sound, as well as audio playlists for passenger favorite selections, a wide variety of games, and a new survey application through which passengers can share their comments with the airline.

The inaugural commercial flight started between Amman and London. The second B787 aircraft is to join the fleet in late September, with another three to follow during October, November and December, and the remainder being introduced to the fleet over the next few years.

“It is a key objective for Royal Jordanian Airlines to provide best-in-class programming to our passengers. We are very pleased to be the first airline with AVANT on our new B787 aircraft,” said Royal Jordanian CEO, Nasser Lozi. He added, “the Dreamliner marks another achievement for the airline and a new era in the history of the Jordanian civil aviation.”
