Saudia Arabia-based low-cost airline, Flyadeal, has selected the seating manufacturers for its 10 new two-class Airbus A330-900neo aircraft scheduled to enter service in mid-2027.
Italian manufacturer Geven has been selected to supply its Comoda AQ seat for the premium economy cabins. The 14-seat cabins will have a 2-3-2 layout, with each seat having a 38-inch pitch and 8-inch recline.
Key features include enhanced comfort cushions, footrests, amenity and literature pockets, and USB Type-C outlets. The seats will be trimmed with synthetic and leather seat covers in a rich deep violet.
“It’s an honour to stand alongside Flyadeal as they take this important step in enhancing their passenger experience,” said Alberto Veneruso, managing director of Geven. “This agreement builds on Flyadeal already choosing Geven to equip the airline’s new fleet of A320 family narrowbodies also due for delivery from next year.”
A landmark deal for Jiatai
For the economy-class cabin, Flyadeal has selected Jiatai’s JT1122E model, which has a backrest articulated seat pan. The 406-seat cabin will be in a 3-3-3 configuration with seat pitch of up to 30 inches. Flyadeal is the first Middle Eastern customer for Jiatai, the China-based subsidiary of AVIC Cabin Systems.
Seat features for both models will be selected to suit Flyadeal’s main A330 routes between Saudia Arabia, and Asia, Europe and Africa.
Sanjiv Kapoor, eEVP strategies at Saudia Group, and acting CEO of Flyadeal, said: “We are delighted to build on the relationship with seat partner Geven for our new widebody Premium Economy cabin. And welcome Jiatai as their regional launch customer for the economy seats. At Flyadeal we like to do things differently – hence our unique approach as a low-cost airline entering the widebody market with our own dedicated aircraft and continued focus on maintaining competitiveness and enhancing the customer experience.”
The seats selections are part of a wider picture of Flyadeal announcements made at Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg this week. Safran Cabin will provide customised widebody galleys, while Lantal Textiles will provide carpets and curtains for the A330s (Lantal is also the supplier for the airline’s new 51 narrowbodies, due to be delivered from next year).
