Sekisui Kydex has been awarded two grants from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania totalling US$3.1 million to fund infrastructure and sustainability improvements at its South Campus facility in Bloomsburg.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is providing US$1 million towards a rail siding project intended to improve freight efficiency and strengthen long-term logistics capacity at the site.
A further US$2.1 million has been awarded through Pennsylvania’s Reducing Industrial Sector Emissions (RISE PA) programme to fund installation of an on-site solar photovoltaic system at the same facility.
Sekisui Kydex, the manufacturer of Kydex and Allen thermoplastics, established its operations in Bloomsburg in 1987 and today employs more than 300 staff at the site.
Sean Stabler, vice president of innovation at Sekisui Kydex, said, “Our mission challenges us to innovate responsibly by balancing performance, quality, and environmental stewardship. These investments help us continue doing that in a thoughtful and practical way.”
According to the company, the rail project aims to reinforce supply chain resiliency and manufacturing competitiveness, while the RISE PA grant supports advances in solar installation, emissions reduction, and energy efficiency.
Sekisui Kydex said the investments reflect a shared focus between the Commonwealth and Pennsylvania manufacturers on strengthening industrial infrastructure and supporting responsible growth.
