Panasonic Avionics, a supplier of in-flight engagement and connectivity (IFEC) technologies, has announced that more than 40 airlines worldwide have now selected its Arc interactive 3D moving map platform, representing over 1,300 installed and committed aircraft.
The company says that the figures show that interactive in-flight maps play a growing role as airlines look for innovative ways to engage passengers throughout their journey. The Arc system drives such engagement through content relating to the route and destination, and points of interest being passed along the way, delivered through immersive visuals and interactive elements.
Developments for Arc
Panasonic Avionics has been updating its moving map platform with new features, including enhancements to Arc Studio, a Cloud-enabled editing tool for the Arc system, which enables airlines to customise their Arc user experience. For example, airlines can manage map content, add branding elements, and highlight their specific networks and destinations.
Arc can also be deployed as a standalone experience or integrated within Panasonic Avionics’ Modular Interactive (MI) solution, bringing map-driven visualisations and utility into the broader interactive experience. When integrated with MI, Arc enhances applications with contextual, location-aware visuals and information.

The company has also made updates to Arc for Web Portal, an omnichannel approach that can translate the Arc user interface on a seatback IFE display to mobile devices through new web 3D views.
“Reaching more than 40 airline customers and 1,300 committed aircraft is a milestone for Arc, making it the most successful and widely adopted IFE application in Panasonic Avionics’ history,” said Andrew Mohr, VP of digital solutions at Panasonic Avionics.
“Our team has an incredible set of new features and enhancements in the delivery pipeline that will further deliver on the potential of an immersive, branded and connected experience through map engagement.”
