RAVE Aerospace's latest options for premium class IFE

RAVE Aerospace is presenting its unified in-flight entertainment and connectivity (IFEC) ecosystem at Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) in Hamburg, marking the company’s first appearance under its new brand. Show highlights include the launch of RAVE’s next-generation onboard digital software platform, RAVE OS 2, and the Harmony graphical user interface (GUI), developed in partnership with Reaktor.

RAVE OS 2 represents a shift from a closed, hardware-defined system to an open platform architecture, enabling airlines to integrate third-party applications and scale passenger experience capabilities across multiple hardware generations. The platform includes two new products: the Developer Suite, a software development kit with open APIs, and the App Marketplace, which allows airlines and partners to develop, integrate and deploy applications onboard.

Ben Asmar, vice president of products and strategy at RAVE Aerospace, said, “RAVE OS 2 is a fundamental shift in how in-flight technology is delivered. We’re moving away from closed, hardware-defined systems to an open, digital platform that evolves over time. That gives airlines the flexibility to innovate at their own pace, bring new capabilities onboard faster, and continuously improve the passenger experience.”

The Harmony graphical user interface (GUI) was developed jointly by RAVE Aerospace and Finnish technology company Reaktor using the RAVE Developer Suite. Reaktor’s design and engineering teams worked within RAVE’s platform environment to build the GUI, demonstrating how third-party partners can contribute advanced interface concepts within the RAVE ecosystem.

Michael Holler, vice president at Reaktor Aero, said, “We worked closely with the RAVE team inside their platform environment, aligning with their roadmap and priorities while contributing UX and software development expertise drawn from years of experience designing digital airline services.”

Also on display at AIX is an artificial intelligence-powered search and conversational interface integrated into the Harmony UI. Powered by the RAVE 5 onboard AI engine, the system connects across the media library, flight data and personalisation services, enabling passengers to discover content and access flight information through natural interaction.

RAVE Aerospace is also showing its Live Transcription and Translation concept, which transcribes onboard announcements into text displayed on the seatback screen and translates them in real time into the passenger’s selected language. The system is a finalist in the Accessibility category of this year’s Crystal Cabin Awards.
